Slamdance has set its special screenings program along with the launch of its Slam Collective collaboration program.

Slamdance, launched 18 years ago as an alternative to Sundance, has alrady unveiled its competition lineup with 10 narrative films and eight documentaries -- including 13 world premieres. The fest will take place Jan. 20-26 in Park City, Utah, at the Treasure Mountain Inn.

The special screenings include Dan Mirvish's drama "Between Us," based on the Off-Broadway play and starring Taye Diggs, Melissa George, David Harbour and Julia Stiles; the world premiere of Chad Crawford Kinkle's horror drama "Jug Face," starring Lauren Ashley Carter, Sean Bridgers, Sean Young, Larry Fessenden and Daniel Manche; and Philippe Caland's "Vipaka," starring Forest Whitaker, Anthony Mackie, Mike Epps, Sanaa Lathan, Nicole Ari Parker and Ariana Neal.

"Jug Face" was the grand prize winner of the 2011 Slamdance screenwriting competition.

The Slam Collective features seven Slamdance filmmakers coming together to make "I Want To Be An American," which will hold its world premiere on Jan. 21. The directors are Dale Yudelman, Maya Newell, Dylan Verrechia, Q, Monteith McCollum, Peter Baxter and Daniel J. Harris.
